Quick fit answer
What size catcher’s mitt do I need?
Use sport and age for the starting number, then confirm closure, wrist fit and pocket control.

| Player | Suggested starting range |
|---|---|
| Baseball, ages 6–9 | 29.5"–31" |
| Baseball, ages 10–12 | 31"–32.5" |
| Baseball, high school | 32.5"–34" |
| Baseball, college / adult | 33"–34.5" |
| Fastpitch softball | 32.5"–34.5" |
These ranges begin the conversation. They do not replace an actual fit check.
Three questions decide the fit
- Can the catcher close the mitt around the correct game ball with one hand?
- Does the wrist stay secure when the pitch reaches the mitt?
- Can the catcher find the ball and make a normal transfer without fighting the pocket?
If two sizes both work
Compare pocket feel and control. The smaller option may feel more direct; the larger option may provide a deeper receiving area. Choose the one the catcher can repeat with, not the one that merely looks more advanced.
