Marques Bush — Founder & CEO, Bush League Baseball

Meet Marques Bush

For Marques Bush, baseball has always been more than a game. Marques grew up with a genuine passion for baseball and played through his high school years before eventually walking away from the sport. For years, baseball became part of his past. Then his oldest son, Aidan, started playing. Standing around ballfields again, watching his son learn the game, brought back something Marques thought he had left behind. When his middle son, Keegan, followed his brother into baseball, that connection only grew stronger. This time, Marques wasn't just experiencing baseball as a player. He was experiencing it as a father and youth coach. And that changed his perspective.

Seeing the game differently

Through coaching and working with young athletes and their families, Marques began seeing a problem that extended far beyond wins and losses. Quality equipment can be expensive. For families with the financial means, a new glove, batting gloves, training equipment, private instruction, travel baseball, or other opportunities may simply become another expense of playing the game. For families in financially distressed communities, those same expenses can become barriers.

Marques believed a family's financial circumstances should not determine whether a young athlete has access to quality equipment and opportunities to develop. That belief became part of the foundation for Bush League Baseball.

Why Bush League Baseball exists

Marques founded Bush League Baseball to serve players, families and coaches with quality baseball and softball products at reasonable prices while building a company that remains connected to the people who actually play the game.

BLB isn't being built simply to put another logo on a glove. The goal is to create equipment athletes are proud to carry onto the field, products parents can feel confident purchasing, and a company coaches and organizations can trust. But equipment is only the beginning.

A bigger vision

Marques' long-term vision includes the development of the Bush League Sports Institute, creating an environment where athletes can train, develop and learn the game. Alongside the business, Marques envisions the FOR Foundation, a charitable initiative intended to give back to financially distressed communities and expand access to opportunities for young athletes.

Because the lessons baseball teaches don't end when the final out is recorded. Discipline. Accountability. Resilience. Teamwork. Confidence. Learning how to fail, adjust and compete again. Those lessons can help shape players, families and communities.

Marques' vision for Bush League Baseball is ultimately about creating a company capable of doing both: building better opportunities in the game, and using the game to build better opportunities in life.

The warthog

Low to the ground, hard to move, and it doesn't back up. It's our seal — you'll see it on our gear where it's earned, not everywhere.
