The BLB Glove Lab process

  1. 01

    Glove Inspection

We inspect the glove, leather, lacing, web, binding and existing condition before beginning.

  2. 02

    Player Profile

We identify baseball or softball, player position, preferred pocket depth, preferred closure and desired level of break-in.

  3. 03

    Controlled Break-In

The glove is worked using controlled pneumatic pressure in the appropriate areas based on glove construction and position.

  4. 04

    Hand Shaping

Hinges, pocket and closure are evaluated and shaped by hand.

  5. 05

    Quality Control

The glove is inspected again before being returned to the customer.

  6. 06

    Keep Playing

Professional break-in accelerates the process, but the player's hand and continued catch play complete the personalized break-in.

We break it in. You make it yours.

A properly broken-in glove should still have structure.

BLB Glove Lab is designed to accelerate the difficult early stages of glove break-in without turning a premium glove into a floppy piece of leather.

Our objective is to establish the foundation: the hinges, the pocket, the closure, and the initial flexibility.

The player finishes the relationship through catch, practice and games.

Professional glove break-in changes the stiffness, flex and shape characteristics of a glove. Leather, lacing, padding and construction differ between manufacturers and models. Bush League Baseball uses reasonable care to preserve structural integrity but cannot guarantee identical results across all gloves. Third-party break-in may affect an original manufacturer's warranty. Customers are responsible for reviewing applicable manufacturer warranty requirements before authorizing service.

This is a booking request — no payment is taken online. You pay at the Clubhouse when your glove is accepted.

Glove break-in FAQ

Will my glove be completely game ready?+

Our goal is to accelerate the initial break-in and establish the glove's pocket, hinges and closure. We intentionally preserve enough structure for the glove to continue forming to the player's hand through catch and normal use.

Do you steam gloves?+

No. Bush League does not use steam, soaking, baking, microwaving or extreme heat.

Can you break in catcher's mitts?+

Yes. Catcher's mitts receive a separate position-specific process because their pocket, heel, thumb, pinky and closure requirements differ from standard fielding gloves.

Can you break in first-base mitts?+

Yes. First-base mitts receive position-specific pocket, scoop, hinge and closure shaping.

Can you break in softball gloves?+

Yes. We service baseball and softball fielding gloves and mitts.

Can you work on gloves from other manufacturers?+

Yes. We can service many glove brands. Manufacturer warranty and break-in recommendations vary, so customers should review their manufacturer's warranty before authorizing third-party service.

How long does it take?+

Turnaround is confirmed when your glove is accepted for service.

Is this a glove repair service?+

No. Mitt Master break-in is not a repair service. Gloves with damaged leather, broken laces, structural problems or severe deterioration may require inspection before service. Results vary based on leather, glove construction, age, existing condition and player preference.

Bush League Baseball is an independent glove service and is not authorized, approved, certified or endorsed by any glove manufacturer.
